Belotero is a hyaluronic acid that was approved by the FDA in November 2011. The sugar protein molecules are crosslinked in such a way that allows it to spread thinly within the tissues, less likely to form clumps and less likely to absorb water. This makes it ideal for the tear troughs as it can be injected at a more superficial level than other fillers.

63 year old with injection of 0.2 to 0.3cc of Belotero to each tear trough and palpebromalar groove. The after photo was taken only 1 week after the injection.

Belotero injectable filler can enhance your appearance and your self confidence. Realistic expectations are important to be happy with any surgery. As each patient is an individual, different results can be expected in each patient.
The only alternatives for tear trough treatment are other injectable fillers, fat grafting or surgery to rearrange the alignment of the protruding fat.Risks
Deep injections around the eye can cause blindness so the material is injected superficially. Over injection can create lumps and/or a blueish skin discoloration known as the Tyndall effect.
Benefits
The benefits are complete resolution of tear troughs without surgery or any recovery time.
Recovery
The recovery is rapid and you should be able to do anything within a day of injection.
