The repair is a simple procedure performed under local anesthesia. The specific technique employed depends on whether the tear is complete creating a cleft earlobe, incomplete or there is a very large hole from gauge earrings and if a re-piercing is desired. For re-piercing as spacer is placed for 2 weeks and is then replaced by a stud earring that is left in place for another week.
