involves taking fat from one area usually obtained by liposuction & injecting it in another area. The grafts have variable & unpredictable amounts of resorption so that as many as 3 to 6 injections may be required to achieve a desired
result. The key to graft survival is small injections spread over multiple tissue planes. The amount that can be injected and the survival rate increase with each succeeding injection as the surviving fat stimulates blood vessel in growth.
The advantage is each procedure is cheap, quick, can be performed under local anesthesia & has little or no downtime/recovery time. It is used for the temple and cheeks to reverse the hollowing out caused by aging, the hands to hide visible tendons and veins associated with aging and the buttocks to change the buttock contour.
